Ok…suffice it to say I watched in segments: Frankie Beverly and Maze and Whitney Houston Tribute.  Outside of the fact that I couldn’t understand the lyrics of  the songs/raps new artist were singing/rapping, as well as the saggin’ factor,  I can’t say I saw much of the show.  Mr. and Mrs. Carter (aka Jay and Bey) looked quite obligatory in the front row.  The true stock of R & B (Chaka, Chante Moore, etc.) as well as Hip Hop (a la old school, Busta, LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest – I’m hopeful) seemed to fade to black (as well as seated like less than royalty)  I love new talent (emphasis on the word talent), but most of it looks like a production deal waiting to happen.  Think I’m hatin’, let’s see if 20 years from now we’ll be singing “N&*%$ in Paris” verbatim, like we sang “Before I Let Go”!
